TTIP Meeting in Portugal

  Models to be presented in the Czech Republic
A conference will be held in Brno, Czech Republic on 8th-9th of September 2007 with the purpose to present the modules developed by the TTIP partners.

Meeting in Netherlands

The partner groups meet in The Netherlands to discuse the modules developed and the structures of the training course. The meeting was well organized by the Ducth partner and took place in the city of Vught.

  Meeting in Florence

The 3rd meeting took place in in April in Florence, Italy

A 3 day meeting in Florence was used to discuse the findings of rescearch that was conducted in the partner countries and a first raw model for a course was produced.

  New Prison Rules

The Council of Europe have on January 11, 2006 adobted new Prison Rules. Article 28 speakes about Prison Education

It says

Education

28.1 Every prison shall seek to provide all prisoners with access to educational programmes which are as comprehensive as possible and which meet their individual needs while taking into account their aspirations.

28.2 Priority shall be given to prisoners with literacy and numeracy needs and those who lack basic or vocational education.

28.3 Particular attention shall be paid to the education of young prisoners and those with special needs.

28.4 Education shall have no less a status than work within the prison regime and prisoners shall not be disadvantaged financially or otherwise by taking part in education.

28.5 Every institution shall have a library for the use of all prisoners, adequately stocked with a wide range of both recreational and educational resources, books and other media.

28.6 Wherever possible, the prison library should be organised in co-operation with community library services.

28.7 As far as practicable, the education of prisoners shall: 
   a. be integrated with the educational and vocational training system of the country so that after their release they may continue their education and vocational training without difficulty; and
  
b. take place under the auspices of external educational institutions.

Recommendation (2006)2 - The European Prison Rules

  Meeting in Denmark

During the meeting in Denmark the TTIP team saw the the new and old prisons of Horsens

Ph.D. Peter Koudal from the Danish Pedagogical University of Denmark told the TTIP Team about research in the Danish Prison Education.

On the program was also a visit to the biggest prison museum in Northern Europe with over 6.500 items. Among the items is the axe of the last, non war related, beheading in Denmark happening November 8, 1892

The TTIP Team will meet in Denmark

from 24th to 28th of January 2006
At Jørgensens Hotel, Horsens
 
for the 2nd meeting. Among the activities are visits of two prisons in Denmark that have been chosen for case studies. The Danish Socrates Office, Cirius, will visit the TTIP Team and Ph.D. Peter Koudahl from the Danish Pedagoical University will address the group telling about his experience with education and disadvanced groups in sociaty.

The two days meeting can be described as a great success.
